I just bought 4 lbs of Derringer this week and I have some questions re cellaring. Most C&D blends come quite dry and, for me, are ready to smoke. Is there any advantage to adding a small amount of moisture to the aging process? Do virginias improve over time left dry? Any ideas or thought would be appreciated as I am trying to build a a modest cellar of the blends I like.
I also will probably stockpile some Sutliff Edgeworth match. I understand that burley doesn't necessarily improve with age but I fear it might go away in future.
Thanks in advance.

I've been a fan of C&D blends for some years and find they keep well and have never needed added moisture. In general, I'd say burley keeps well. Virginia is praised for improving a lot with aging. Though it is not a consensus opinion, I think burley mellows nicely and melds and harmonizes with other tobaccos in a blend over time.
