Is the finish matte?

The top pic is the original. I saw the crack on the top and thought I would top it to try and get rid of it. Unfortunately I uncovered many cracks! Haha. So now it's about a 1/4 inch shorter, which I don't mind as I usually smoke smaller pipes. I trimmed the cake evenly but left a good layer to protect it and I've also dyed the exposed top black.

I think I got it thrown in for free with a few pipes I got at an antique market, all of them worked out to no more than 10 bucks each, so I'm fine with it being a bit beat up for that price. The stem is in great shape and same with the outside. Ol' gramps sure did a number on the bowl though, it had a THICK uneven cake which probably caused those cracks.

I'm sure I'll get many years from the thing still. Honestly most of the pipes I smoke are the beat up ones I can't sell. All the others get refurbished and sold. Got too many pipes as it is, but the PAD just keeps calling me.

Ya I'm trying to control myself before I get there, I got around 35 right now, with my personal smokers around 20 and trying to keep it that way. I do actively sell with online classifieds, ebay and at the pipe club, so at least my numbers decrease every so often. Plus my meager profits ensure I'm not actually spending my money if I accidentally need to buy another pipe haha

yeah it's possible I'm down from 150 I did sell/trade a few.
control is hard though.. especially if there is a certain brand/pipe you collect. when they come up you pretty much have to buy it or you won't ever get one again.
