I know the virtues of Prince Albert, Middleton's Carter Hall, Solani's Aged Burley, and etcetera, but does anyone enjoy Mac Baren's Burley London Blend the way I do?
Certainly, the way I enjoy this burley blend is an individually unique condition, however, it seems that regarding many of these clean (Virginia-free, topless) burley choices the 'drug store brands' and/or 'over-the-counter' offerings rank foremost. I wonder if anyone on this forum has any similar opinions to mine on this?

Some of the old no longer produced Burley blends were excellent! Plow Boy was a favorite of mine.

I know you guys are going to howl, but I like the OTC stuff called Red Velvet, I think.

Burleys give me a kind of strange feeling in the back of the throat. So, I've never been a big fan of burleys unless they are a minor component to a blend.

I just got some of that MacB burley london blend as a gift from Tommy here on the forums, and it's a taste that's growing on me. I think it has a lot of subtlety to it, something that lends itself to a more meditative smoking experience, like reading or just sitting and watching the twilight fade. Thanks again, Tommy.

Another burleyphile!! Mac Baren does burley mixes in a top notch way.
I have been smoking burleys much more often than aros or English blends the past few months. Besides Mac B's BLB, I've been hitting their Dark Twist Roll Cake and Golden Extra. They do burley in fine fashion and its never a disappointing smoke.
Have you had these?
Uhle's is another fine blender that offers some great burleys. Crushed White Burley, Perfection Plug Burley, Blend 00 ( made entirely of White Highland Burley ), their Blend 300 ( flavored with the perfect touch of honey ) are fantastic blends.
Certainly worth a taste, if you haven't already.
I think burleys get overlooked too often. They aren't flashy blends, but deliver a rock solid smoke. I find that while I smoke other styles of tobacco, burleys are something I keep coming back to and I'm not ever disappointed. They can be such a mix of flavors, too.
If your tastes are anything like mine....its has become a burley craving.

Waiting for that sweet smoke is awesome.

While aros are now my smoke of choice, burleys provide an enjoyable alternative. I usually keep a pouch of PA or CH around. However, recently I've been turning to Lane's Burley Light blend for my periodic burley break. It's a very mild and agreeable Burley Blend.

Back in the day, I used to be a big fan of MacB's Golden Extra. I think I might have to renew my acquaintance with it at some point. And maybe I'll try the London Burley, while I'm at it.

I've been singing the praises of Burley London Blend for some time now.

Nutty and faintly sweet with a hint of cocoa but none of the soapiness I get from a few other burleys, it's become one of my regular smokes. I highly recommend you give it a try.
Thank you kindly Romeowood,....I'm so glad you're enjoying it.
You should have seen my hand shaking as I dropped it in the box,....it didn't want to let it go!

:puffy: (I have tons of it squirreled away!)
*edit*

Romeowood,.....it just dawned on me that I recently ordered a book who's author was one of your high-school teachers if memory serves me. Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt,...or am I just imagining things?

You're not imagining. And keep a box of kleenex handy when you're reading Tommy, it's a bittersweet tale to put it mildly.
I'm enjoying CAO Bella Vanilla now, and it bears more than a passing similarity to the MacBaren burley london. The review notes it as being 100% Virginia, though. I may just have to pack up some MacB to compare.

I hate to disagree with you Lawrence, but my all time least favorite blend has got to be Red Velvet. It tastes like sugar and chemicals. I bought a two ouncer once and went through it in two days. I found it very addictive in a sort of "gotta have candy" sort of way. I don't count the experience as positive.
A lot of respect to you Lawrence. You're a great guy with a lot of experience and tons of spot on advice, but I just had to throw this one back at ya.

Tommy, how is the room note and nicotine kick for that London Blend? You have piqued my interest and I might want to order this next time I make a big purchase online.

I find the room note pretty mild--smokey with a chance of cocoa. Vitamin N is likewise mild, but definitely present. I am definitely glad I have this in my tobacco-on-hand--go ahead and put one tin in your order.

I have to agree with Romeo,.....the nicotine is there but it's barely noticable, at least by me. I don't like nicotine anymore, I got my fill for years.
The room note is really nice for a burley, where as Carter Hall and Prince Albert, two popular burleys, smell of roll your own cigarettes.
Here's a list of what other smokers have to say about it;
