Harris - isn't Stonehaven technically a Burley flake? ;) Available in bulk packages of 8 ounces each. :D

I'll add to the folks recommending Peretti's Burley Slices. I know it's out of stock on the website, but you can give them a call and see if they have any or if they have an ETA for when it will be back in stock.

Even though the Peretti isn't tinned, it's at least as expensive as the tinned burley flakes from Cornell and Diehl. Burley Flake #2 is one of my absolute favorites -- it's got a little Virginia in it (just a touch), but the result is bold, nutty burley flavor. Burley Flake #1 is good, too, if you like dark burley -- I don't especially like it, but it's good if dark burley is your thing. Burley Flake #3 might do the trick for you -- it's a little too sour for my tastes. In any case, #2 is one of the purest burleys out there outside of plain burley for blending.
I know this is a thread about flakes, but I recently tried the Cube Cut Burley from Cornell and Diehl (in bulk) and it's fantastic. I'm not sure there's any VA in it at all, maybe a smidge, but it gives pure, nutty burley flavor with little or no casing (unlike some other cube cut burleys). Easy as hell to pack, too.

jmatt, Stonehaven is the Virginia/Burley flake that all others are judged by. It is a glorious blend that even fresh is outstanding. With age it is sublime. The closest blend to Stonehaven that I have smoked is Mac Baron Old Dark Fired. I am currently smoking through a pound of 2007 Stonehaven and it is pretty damn tasty. I have 2 more pounds of the 2007 that I have put away until it is at least ten years old.

Oh I'm familiar. :)
I bought my first 8 oz bag of Stonehaven just because the B&M I was at had it when I was looking for Penzance. So I got some Penzance and a bag of Stonehaven that then sat in my "cellar" for six months. To me it was just another tobacco I bought, and I didn't know anything about it. Then I opened it one night, had my first bowl and said "holy @#$% that's good!"
So I started looking for more and finally realized that like Penzance, it was the other unobtanium tobacco. Oops. Subsequently I've managed to pick up two more pounds that I'm aging. One pound is from mid 2014, the other pound is from last fall.
And yes - to me, without having just followed the crowd, it is my favorite tobacco of anything that's not straight Virginia.

Most likely was. Just like the burley in Crooner. Looking for bulk flakes though. I will agree, however, C&D does one hell of a burley!
