I'm coming to the distressing realization that despite my undying affections Red Virginia does not love me back. I still smoke it but as a daily driver it tears me up. Maybe it's a sensitivity, who knows.

So I'm trying to broaden my virgina horizons into the brighter realms. I've become a big fan of C&D bulks, they're good, cheap and smoke well. My issue is they don't have a lot of straight virginia blends that don't also include red. My go to right now has been Oriental Silk, it's great but it's a far cry from a straight va obviously.

Can anyone recommend some good red-less straight Virginia blends?

+ for Orlik Golden Sliced.
You can also try Capstan Yellow - and a favorite of mine Capstan Blue.
Love Capstan Blue, still need to try Yellow. Also going to pick up some Orlik finally.

Have been a fan of 507C for a while. Picked up a pound to put away from SP since I'm skeptical it makes the STG cut.

Also grabbed a half pound of 707 Sweet Virginia. It's good but surprisingly light.

C&D Virginia Flakes
Have you tried CD Virginia Flake? It's a pretty good bulk offering
I haven't, but thank you guys for mentioning it that's exactly why I made this thread. I really like SP's site filters but if I hit "Virginia" it limited it to "Virginia" blends and leaves out anything labeled "Blending" so I completely missed it. I wish they'd separate Blending Yes/No into it's own filter but I get that's a pretty niche case.

@leonardw has said that 507C and Peter Stokkebye Luxury Navy Flake are the same blend and I don’t think there are any plans to axe LNF.
Are they really? I'm kind of skeptical, I haven't had LNF nearly as much as 507C and while they're definitely very similar they were made in different places (Sutliff in the US/PS by Orlik in Denmark) 507C is a straight forward cake press and cut into flake where as LNF is rolled into a spun cake first. I also remember LNF having more dark striping, maybe they're using darker leaf I'm not sure.

Either way I like them both and would be pretty content to switch to LNF as my stock of 507C dwindles.

Here is what Leonard said about it

There is no equipment in the US capable of making flakes like 507C. It was never made by anyone other than STG. They always sold it in bulk to Sutliff, who rebranded it and sold it as their own.

If you love Reds, give CD Winchester a try. The addition of the unsweetened cavendish may just tone down what’s bothering you. I’ve heard this from others that can’t tolerate Red Va.
