Very attractive but the metal tamping foot is unnecessary. Bare briar cam take a lot of heat.Being there are never enough tampers handy I had my buddy shape up 4 extra briar tampers for me when he cut my ashtray with matching tamper.

This is true, and he makes tampers without the metal kits often, but I was after the tops that unscrew for the scraper. These briar chunks were just left over from a custom automatic knife I had made with briar scales.Very attractive but the metal tamping foot is unnecessary. Bare briar cam take a lot of heat.
Any photos?a custom automatic knife I had made with briar scales.
Oh yes, I have photos. I guess if I called it an automatic tobacco cake, plug or rope cutter I can post it in this section without too much pushback.Any photos?

I was given one, and use it often. I like how they make a little mound instead of flat tamping.I like the 8deco Legend tampers sold by SmokingPipes. It's a very good design and there is a spike tool that you access by unscrewing one end of the tamper. It's very practical because it has tamper, scoop, and spike in a very convenient and easy to use design.
