I saw a pipe that was really cheap on Amazon. It says Briar root, not Briar. I'm asking, is this a deceptive term? Not interested in the pipe more just curious.
Was on the app don't know how to link, but I took a screenshot.Link?
Thanks.Same thing. The "briar" used for pipes is the ground level (and slightly underground) burl of the Mediterranean hawthorn. So you can also hear briar root, briar burl, etc.
That was the brand actually. I was just curious for future shopping though.I bought very cheap briar on amazon.
Fulushu or something like that.
It's been fine. Smokes good.
If it's cheap I'd say take a shot.
AgreedI will buy an estate pipe for $25 by default before I’d buy a cheap mystery pipe from Amazon. That’s just me though.
I don't ridicule you for likes or dislikes so please refrain from doing so to me.Such as Chasing Embers favorite brand, Dunhill. They have the Bruyere, Root Briar, even the Dead Root.
Briar (bruyère) literally means flowering Heather. All briar is root of the heather
Just pointing out that the common name briar is just an English corruption of the French word for the plant not just the burl.Brezo
