Hello Fellow Pipesmokers,

As an intermediate briar and meer pipesmoker I have just recently discovered the world of clay pipes and its wonderful tradition dating back hundreds of years especially in England.

I am desperately trying to find a classic clay Churchwarden for purchase, possibly new.

Does anyone know where to buy a Boseley or Rex Key classic, 22-inch Churchwarden?

I’ve only found small Rex Keys and the Boseley artisan doesn’t seem to accept orders anymore...

Thank you!

Try the shop at Williamsburg as they used to sell those really long tavern pipes - I picked up one for a friend of mine a few years ago.

Welcome to the world of clay pipes my friend.
I've got several clays and like to smoke them when I visit 17th / 18th Century living history re-enactments such as the Lace Wars & Sealed Knot, which is where I got into clay pipes...

Hi tiffanzsolt, Rex Key retired a few years back so isn't making pipes anymore. I'm a volunteer at the Trust that owns the Pipe Works he used to operate and was due to start apprenticing there until the outbreak. As soon as they can re-open I'll be able to get in there and see if there are any of his Broseley originals left if you are interested. I'll eventually be making pipes myself, but I imagine that by the time I could make a churchwarden you will have sourced many in the years it took!

I'd be interested in learning to make some clay pipes...

They only sell it in 25g pouches where I've been getting it from; it's £7.61 for 25g at the Central England Co-Op in Holme Hall, compared with £7.76 at the blue & white "Manchester" Co-Op on Ashgate Road.
UPDATE: It's the same price at BOTH Co-Op stores now.
Have decided to give up my pipe NEXT MONTH following a relapse when I went to the VE Day party in my cul de sac. Anyway, I can't keep sucking packets of Condor down my throat!
