I've been looking for a thick walled horn or Dublin with a large chamber and decided to have look through the offerings the site sponsors had and found this one;

It's American made by a carver that goes by the handle "RC Sands".The chamber isn't as large as I had wanted, but the rest of the pipe is just what I was looking for.

The sites refurbishing policy was a big surprise,as was the pipes inexpensive price tag.

Does any one have any pipes made by this carver? How well done is the drilling?

I've never personally smoked an RC Sands pipe but have had a lot of them come through here as consignment pieces. I cannot speak to the smoking qualities but the fit/finish and drilling on Sands pipes have always been impressive. And if you purchased it from Blue Room Briars, then you can be sure it passed their stringent guidelines for quality. Scott and Jesse will not put clunkers on their site to sell. Nice pick-up!

I may sound like a parrot on a perch, but I will repeat: With smaller bowl and chamber pipes you can get a longer than expected smoke with flake, coin, plug, and rope cut blends. Even a Group 1 smallest pipe category can give you 30 or 40 minutes with these more solid cuts. That is a handsome pipe.

Well, the site says it's shipped, but the USPS tracker just says a label has been printed. Hoping it gets delivered this week.

It was delivered today.
It came packed with a bundle of "Tom and Jerry"complimentary pipe cleaners.A very nice touch. Along with a sock.
First impressions along with pictures.
I like the grain of the wood.
The stain looks nice with no runs, drips or obvious flaws. There wasn't any stain in the mortise or chamber areas.Just bare wood.(The pic of the mortise didn't come out well.)
Drilling looks good.
Mortise and tenon are airtight and well aligned.
No major flaws. The only one I could find was in the chamber near the draft hole.A very minor divot that looks worse in the image than it really is.
A pipe cleaner passes all the way through it with ease.
It smokes very easy.
It is much lighter than I had expected. Still a bit too heavy to clench.
I like the button.

I think it's well worth the asking price.

BlueRoomBriars shipped the pipe and stem rolled separately in bubble wrap then sealed in a ziplock bag along with the extras noted. Then packed all of it in a square box filled with packing peanuts, so everything arrived in excellent condition.

I always get a little surge of happy adrenaline when I see there is no coating in the bowl of a new pipe, just suggests that the pipe received personal attention and is expected to do well in terms of quality. I've happily smoked many coated bowls with no problem, but the non-coated bowl is always an impressive extra.
