Since they reuse the barrels that the perique is kegged in wouldn't that mean the microbes from the previous batches would "inoculate" the fresh perique thus there would be some resemblance to the previous batches?

Like I had said, Hawke has yet to confirm or clarify what exactly he is asking. I am not sure that he even means that the perique is what is different.

Not to create a big aside here but my understanding was that C&D did not use any PG in their non-flavored blends. I've no doubt about their use of microban otherwise but no idea what, if any affect that treatment has on taste.
