Just acquired an old KBB Rocky Hungarian yesterday. I had given it a thorough cleanup and spent almost an hour on the stem. Everything looked great until I attached the stem.
The rim of the mortise broke off like magic.

I believe I can fix it with the right adhesive but I’m clueless about them.
Is there a well known wood glue that works well for pipes?

If it were me, I'd use Titebond.

Titebond

You could thin it just a tad with water, and lightly apply it with a q-tip. Press the chip of whatever into place and make sure that it is fit in there well. Maybe carefully try dry fitting it first. Swab the break with alcohol first to remove any oils or dust. I've got a bottle of that stuff around at all times.

Once it has set sufficiently, just remove any excess with a dump rag.

It's used in industry to glue laminates, plywood, even Les Paul bodies. Never seen a Les Paul body come apart, even with Pete Townshend beating on it.
