Ben Wade meerschaum.

I purchased a Ben Wade Jambo meerschaum pipe...any ideas on how old it probably is. In great condition, I paid $50. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

"Jambo" is Kiswahili for "hello." According to Pipedia (brands & makers), Jambo was made by London Meerschaum. Virtually certain that you have an African block meerschaum.

Indeed. Not as porous as Turkish block, so always "calcined" in tan, amber, orange, red, brown, or black, with the lighter colors usually blackened at the top. Solid smokers, though. There were many brand names. The African block mines were exhausted ages ago.
