I'm not a rum drinker.
My pipes were starting to taste salty and I decided they needed a more in-depth cleaning than they have been getting from just a shank brush and a variety of pipe-cleaners.
Having read recommendations for Bacardi 151 on this forum (and Everclear being unavailable in Virginia), I hied me to the ABC and bought a small bottle.
While working on a pipe, I inadvertently dripped a little of the rum on the leather arm of my chair. As I wiped it up with a paper towel, it took the top layer of leather with it! Now, this is an inexpensive IKEA chair, but I was still surprised.
I'm almost afraid to try to drink this stuff!
The pipes are much, much better, though; the 151 is an excellent cleaner.

I'd probably just consider it "character" and forget it if it were mine.
Yeah, I'm not too worried about it. As I said, it's a cheap piece of furniture. I guess the thing that bothered me most was that I've never scorched it but I managed to mar it while cleaning!

the Redhead is all over me like stink on poop.
My wife looked at, took a sniff at the bottle, and said, "I didn't know you used paint-strippers on pipes."
Mike: what do you mix 151 with? Or do you like it neat?

I drink Capt. Morgan, 151 for pipe cleaning & occasional Fancy mixed cocktail that you want to ignight, never by itself.
