Just because there is a 2 tin limit on one blend, it does not mean you cannot order more blends to get free shipping, if that is you ultimate goal.

My ultimate goal was to get Wessex BCDF AND free shipping. Not order $80 of other tobacco to get free shipping.

decigar,
The reason for the 2 tin limit is so everyone can have the opportunity to purchase this tobacco. I learned many years ago, that if no limit is placed on it, there are those few hoarders that will buy it up, leaving nothing for the guy wanting one or two tins. The reason I do not have a 10 tin limit is that I did not receive all that much, about 150 tins. You can see how long it would last.
As far as shipping is concerned, only wanting to buy something with free shipping is your choice. I'm sure you miss out on some nice opportunities. Just depends on how bad you want it. But in reality, most of the orders we received are for much more than just the 2 tins BCDF, since there are many other tobaccos, pipes, or accessories a customer adds to his cart, while on the site, to take advantage of the free shipping.
The best thing about this country is that you have a choice in who you do business with, and no one will fault you for the one you make.

No need to call Dr Phil. I have no feelings. I traded them for 20 tins of BCDF.
Good one!

Spending $100 to save $9 is self defeating in a big way.

I LOATHE paying shipping charges, I know, I know-- the shipping is factored in the cost, but still.
Shipping charges are simply shipping charges and are not entered into the price of an item. After all, that’s why they charge for shipping! Granted, there may be that few hidden cents added on for packaging, but hey... what the hell, it’s a business trying to make something called a profit. You can always go to a B&M and pay a hell of a lot more for their overhead.

One other point I should make since the fact that we cut out discounts came up.
I felt it was unfair for someone who belongs to a pipe club, buys from me twice a year, gets a 10% discount. The customer who shops every few weeks, spends hundreds of dollars a month, does not belong to a club, so he does not get a discount. So, in order to level the playing field, I decided to do just that.....Level the playing field by eliminating discounts. Now every one pays the same; the once a year guy and the once a month guy.
I certainly hope you can understand this concept.

I respectfully disagree Phil. Nothing is "free" in the world of business. I'll bet that the price of a tin is a few cents higher than needed to make the desired profit, so as to cover the "free" shipping, for those that take advantage of it. Thats how business works, they have to make a profit.

Exactly (I thought that it was I said)! And, as I posted:

Like I previously said, you can always go to a B&M and pay much more, if you are lucky enough to find one, let alone find what your after. For pipe smokers I think that online stores are now a blessing in this age so I'm more than willing to pay for shipping charges. Hell, it's lot better than paying for gas and tracking down a B&M that may possibly be miles and miles away with nothing whatsoever to offer (aside from paying the added on local taxes). Granted, it's a shame but there it is and count your blessings.

^^ Agree!! I try to support my B&M as much as possible, but do rely more and more on the e-tailers. I was just alluding to what my elders taught me-- "ain't nothin' free in this world" :puffy:

I don't even bother with my local B&M. I know they need to make money, but I can't afford to keep them in business by paying $16 for a $9 tin. Or double the price on bulk blends.

You just made my pt. I did not order an additional $80 of stuff and I did miss the opportunity to buy 2 tins. But it was my choice not to.

I love you guys, because you really do take your tobacco seriously.
there are those few hoarders that will buy it up, leaving nothing for the guy wanting one or two tins.
It must be a tremendous burden on you when a customer buys all your stock. I heard the CEO of Costco complaining about how this keeps him up at night just the other day.
