I saw that one considered bidding on it, but that shape, I just can't. Not particularly outRAGeous, but jus not me at all. If I *had* bid I wouldn't have gone over $60 & it'd have had to be a family era one.

I'm sure others will disagree...I guess it depends on your personal financial situation, but I wouldn't think of spending that kinda money for a pipe.

Absolutely. Collectors of one-of-a-kind premium quality ANYTHING will open their pocketbooks for something truly special because they have the discretionary funds. They're not spending their food budget. Seems a little high for that Quaint, but not by much.
I have spent that kind of money on a special, to me, pipe, and sometimes more. And I've picked up great stuff on the cheap, because I consider myself a pauper, which helps keep my spending habits in check. Where I draw the line is on expensive vintage tobacco. I think it's a bad value, but others don't care and enjoy possessing and occasionally enjoying a $100-$900 tin.

I have one of these that needs to be cleaned up. Not sure whether to smoke it, trade it, or sell it. In all my hunting it was a great find last year.

Nice. I'd smoke it while deciding any other course of action. A real light coating of mineral oil all over, then rubbed down, will give a nice result, little work.

Very nice Pip . As jpm says ; give it a most careful cleaning and a few drops of mineral oil ( I prefer recorder oil, it works miracles, why does no one ever mention it ? ) clean the stem and smoke it !

The one I posted is the first one I've seen that does not have the "chicken-scratch " rustication.

I love the art deco radiator like carving, almost irresistible.
