Anyone have any info on this tobacco? I know Peper Tobacco was founded in 1852 and was still in business in 1948.

Can't find much about it,

quite the obscure bird.
The name was copyrighted in 1942.

The tax stamp indicates that that tin dates to 1953.
I have no idea how those old American key-wind tins hold up over time --- hopefully it'll have some good smokeable stuff in it!
Here's an ad from a 1955 Iowa newspaper, a tobacconist boasting of a new shipment, perhaps it had a dedicated following of a few fine folks at one time?

It's an odd duck for sure.
I love the word itself,

fun to pronounce!
