Baccy Flaps -Any Interest?

I am thinking of producing a limited run of baccy flaps in either hardened plastic or wood that would be a clone of the original Winup Bacy Flap. Before I look into this how many of you would be interested?

Personally, I would not be interested in Plastic. When Bakelite became too expensive to work with, Parker tried plastic and nobody liked them. They are usually carried in the back pocket and sat upon. The plastic ones distorted so not many were purchased. They soon stopped making them altogether.

On eBay you can get a plastic Parker for dirt cheap but a bakelite commands a huge (100% +) premium.

I'm interested. I don't know whether wood or plastic is more appealing without seeing a prototype. Thanks for looking into this!

Oh okay, I first looked up baccy flap and couldn’t find anything but when I typed in Winup I was able to see what you were talking about. I’d like to try making one of those on my lathe.

Some modern plastics are very durable. I mean, they're making car panels, luggage, and wrench handles, etc., out of them these days. Whether they make sense cost-wise is another question though.
