Personally, I would not be interested in Plastic. When Bakelite became too expensive to work with, Parker tried plastic and nobody liked them. They are usually carried in the back pocket and sat upon. The plastic ones distorted so not many were purchased. They soon stopped making them altogether.

On eBay you can get a plastic Parker for dirt cheap but a bakelite commands a huge (100% +) premium.

Some modern plastics are very durable. I mean, they're making car panels, luggage, and wrench handles, etc., out of them these days. Whether they make sense cost-wise is another question though.
