Avatars - Where, When, and What Were You Smoking?

Gents,
To grace the pages of this forum, most of us have chosen a picture of ourselves complete with pipe as an avatar; one would like to think that it depicts a special moment in our pipe smoking careers?

Mine was taken on vacation last year in Innsbruck by my eldest Grandson whilst I was trying to enjoy my first ever pipe of a Samuel Gawith Flake.

Good thread. Sadly, when trying to take my picture, the camera spontaneously caught fire in my wife's hands and we barely escaped with our lives. Since then, I'm not allowed to have my picture taken so I settled for a pop culture icon that fits my fancy. :puffpipe:

I was fighting off a small horde of evil goblins... they were mounted on undead shetland ponies that shot lighting from their eyes and spewed fire from their mouths, and were also quite flatulent (the ponies, not the goblins... well, they were flatulent too actually) 8O I was all alone holding the pass against many, armed only with the dagger you see in my hand (see avatar)and a bag of rotten tomatoes (which they told me smelled lovely)So I swung that mighty bag of rotten tomatoes like a flail while stabbing with my dagger and/or kicking the goblins in the nads (goblins would make great sopranos in a choir by the way). They wanted my pipe and tobacco. They would not have it. Not as long as I lived. As you can see I managed to fight them off, because I'm just that dang mighty. One of the goblins had a camera and snapped that shot before I kicked him in the nads and took his camera.

My avatar is a photo taken at the Kansas City Pipe Show a few years ago after somehow lucking into winning the pipe smoking contest. The photo was taken for the KC Pipe Club Newsletter. The pipe I am smoking in the photo is a Paul Bonacquisti Sabbia Canadian with butterscotch colored acrylic stem and silver shank trim.

Mine was taken when I was attending a conference in Ethiopia at Addis Ababa University. On the trip, I visited a few historic churches. In my avatar, I am standing in front of one of those churches.
While I had a pipe with me on this outing, I wasn't smoking it at the time. But I remember it was my 2009 Stanwell POY, and I was likely smoking some Frog Morton Across the Pond, fittingly.

Hmm - mine was taken several years ago at the St. Andrew's Society of Detroit Highland Games, on Friday night when I was volunteering at the Friday night ceildih. The pipe is an ancient Whitehall - a cheapo that smokes well. I have no idea what I was smoking.

On porch about 11am, bush hog early in La heat and humidity, this Moretti is light for such a big pipe 72 grams, got all my teeth at 70, had a lot of practice clenching as I raised 3 teenagers. LOL
