I had the same problem. It is a bit confusing. We appear to have two completely separate profiles and sets of avatars on this site. One is for the pipesmagazine.com main site and the other is for the forums. And there appears to be no direct link (that I can find) to the forum version until after you've created a post.
To see/edit the first version, go to http://pipesmagazine.com home, then click on the My Account drop-down. That will bring you to a url like this: http://pipesmagazine.com/members/yourProfileName
To see/edit your forum profile, go to a url like this: http://pipesmagazine.com/forums/profile/yourProfileName
