This last minute change, unfortunately is due to the increasing pressure by the New Orleans City Council on smoking inside facilities.
http://www.nolapipeshow.com/2015/09/new-orleans-pipe-show-venue-change/
Why would it harm anyone to have a smoking room or facility? People know they must be around smoke if they go there. It is a choice like any other.
It seems our governmentals are running out of scapegoats to bash to make it look as if they actually do something in government, other than be parasites, I mean.

I about had a panic attack. I just made reservations night before last, and I made a mistake that charged my account twice, and was on the phone trying to fix it yesterday. Then when I saw it was moving, and I misread that I didn't have to change reservations... I have had so much going on this summer that I haven't lost my mind, ha ha. I will make it there one way or another.

See you guys. I will be the guy smoking a pipe. :puffy:

Was Harrahs not a smoking venue? Did they force them into banning smoking in the facility I assume?
If this is an ordinance based change, I don't really see the need for such secrecy. A few details might be nice for people that have committed to this show.

We can 't go into all the details but its the local governance in New Orleans that is driving this anti-smoking ferver.
You have my sympathies. These anti-smoking zealots are everywhere.
It's one of the issues I go full Ron Paul on: if everyone in the building is voluntarily there, and the harm is minimal if any, why are we going after them?
Oh, right. Scapegoats. We need scapegoats. Next time the city floods because of poor seawall maintenance, at least no one will be smoking.

Goofiness has no bounds. Trying to find a bright side, which for the cantankerous isn't easy, this is an opportunity to do some lunting (pipe smoking while walking). Bring your clenching pipes and a wind cap in case of windy weather. Also, I heard that New Orleans has strict ordinances against brown shoes, with a two year jail sentence and fines up to $15K, so be sure to bring shoes of colors other than brown, and that don't look brown in any light ... just kidding of course ... I hope.

Wow. What a shame. Harrah's was a fine location, too bad the smoke Nazis win again. I guess the wife will have to find something else to do besides gamble while the show was on. Thankfully my hotel is still relatively close to the new venue(nearer than Harrah's visitors). But we'll be there either way.

By a few blocks... like how many blocks? City folks and us country folks just don't interpret this one the same way.
This is truth!! LOL!
Its a .5 mile walk from my hotel the Old #77. Which is 3-5 minutes from Harrah's. So a little more than half mile from Harrah's I would say...or a rocks throw from there for us country folks..

Google maps says that it is 0.7 miles or a 15 minute walk from Harrah's to Generation Hall.

Generations Hall has a certain ambiance not found at Harrah's, good move.
It is also located just off the St Charles Ave Streetcar route at Robert E Lee Circle(which the city will soon be tearing down those PC idiots). A ride up St Charles through the Garden District is a must. If someone hasn't made hotel reservations, the may want to checkout The Ponchatrain Hotel on St Charles Ave. That's where I would stay

I'm staying in the old 77 so.. when I walk out of that hotel I can see Harrahs across the street, and walked probably 7 minutes to the WWII museum. I actually plan on parking my car at Harrahs still so I can take advantage of the free parking.

It's not a bad walk at all. Remember, even a mile or two in the city isn't the same as a mile or two in the country. Too many things to see. Last time I was in NOLA we walked all the way from our hotel in the French Quarter to Ann Rice's old house in the Garden District. It's not a big deal.

Then that will be one of the places I visit while I'm there.

Glad to see several members will be attending ! Looking forward to meeting you Cosmic and Vorhees !
Pylorns, is there parking at the new venue ? I am staying with Jesse Jones and our room is out of the area, plus he will have all the inventory for Smokers Haven so we will be driving there. Can we park/unload nearby ?
