Are Tobacco Samples a Thing?

Boswell always gifted me samples when I either purchased a pipe or another tobacco. They'd throw in a czrech tool and pipe cleaners too.

A local B&M near me has samples of everything they sell in their shop. If a tin isn't open, they'll open one for you. From all the big names to their house blends. Just sit and puff away.

I’m only a couple of months into smoking a pipe and I’m trying to explore different tobaccos and discover what I really like but this hobby can expensive real quick! After attending the STL pipe show and picking up a few samples from Lane, Ltd. it has me wondering if any private sellers offer sample lots for new guys to try. I think it’s a great idea and I would love to be able to try a bunch of different stuff without having to buy a full tin or ordering a couple ounces from a bunch of different places.
For instance, I gave this sample lot to my nephew so he could try some of what I have, about 4-5 grams each, enough for a couple bowls. Is this a thing? Because I really want it to be!

I find the 2oz for $1-$4 to be a sample as a noob… not sure I could understand a tobacco in a bowl or two. The more I smoke something the more I understand it.
