I've been involved with friends who got projects going through KS and I think it's a really valuable resource. So I posted a strong criticism because I thought the KS you started violated that ethos. Your recognition of a bad call, and your willingness to cop to it in here says a lot about you.
If you go back to KS with the right approach, I'm in. Promise.
Some Ideas (just suggestions -- a zillion ways to skin this cat): Top contributors (you can set the price point where you like, say make it 150% of your usual prices) get a free commissioned pipe on a short deadline. [Or pick a pipe design that's a signature for you and they get one of those. Or design a pipe that will be EXCLUSIVE to top contributors, and not available to anyone else.] Strong, but smaller contributors get a discount within a certain range on a commission. Contributors over $100 get a preferential spot in line for your production, or right of first refusal on certain pipes. Everybody over $## gets a custom tamper in some exclusive shape. ETC ETC ETC
The idea of KS is that the investors get some tangible benefit from participation, they buy in with not just money, but with ownership of the product. But it doesn't have to be a huge deal.
So best of luck to you. Let us know if you DO decide to follow through with another KS and I bet you get a goodly response.
