maybe it's the coffee with milk that i've been drinking while smoking. i drink 6-7 mugs a day to go with my smokingI think food and alcohol intake and calorie burn-off are prime culprits, though the sedentary aspect of pipe smoking might affect the burn-off of calories. Pipe smoking alone? Not likely, I don't think.
