I wish I knew and could help you, ben. Did you pick this up on ebay? garage sell? I like the windcap feature: "in high gusty winds, protect your burning embers!" I've always wanted one for my pipes.

Oh I know exactly what that is; it's called a Calabash.

That's a gourd with a Meerschaum chamber i believe, if I am seeing it correctly. The shape is also done in briar in a much more compact form but with the same somewhat domed brim. I have a Peterson briar Calabash in that motif. That's a handsome pipe and should be a good smoker.

A smaller than usual calabash with some sort of metal cover over the bowl rim. I see no windcap in any of the photos.

It's a gourd calabash. Look at the metal covering the rim to see if anything is stamped on it, and if there is, let us know what is stamped on it.
