Just wondering who likes their Kaywoodie Meeschaums? Here's mine...

There are some Kaywoodie collectors and historians on Forums. I only have my recent briar versions bought six or seven years ago, a Drinkless and a push-bit, and I like them a lot. Kaywoodie used to be the premium U.S. pipe, costing more than Dunhills on into the fifties. They are a moderately priced but still good pipe, and some of the older ones are spectacular.

I've got an unsmoked low end 500 from the 60s. I'll fire it up one of these days. user crashthegrey will likely be here shortly, he's the kaywoodie guru.

My best guess on this one is mid 50's, given the four hole stinger. The limited information on KW meers on the internet does not shed much light either.

With the Kaywoodie club on top of the stem, it might be earlier than the ‘50s. I am not sure when it was moved to the side.

I have 2 or 3 'woodies' and the stingers are a drawback (no pun intended) for me.

I have some older Chicago made Grabows and their stingers are much more user friendly.

Any of these stingers could be eliminated, as have been on a few of the older Grabows I've acquired.

The older stems on these pipes seem to be very comfortable and made with some attention to detail.
On pipes I own that pass a cleaner, I seldom take apart. Those with stingers require that I do. At least most are screw in, so that repeated disassembly is not as life threatening to the stummel or the tenon.

LHS, Grabow/Linkman's, Kaywoodie.

I think the current push bits are serviceable little pipes with some of the good lineage of 'yore. I have to say, they aren't that available. The online sites that carry them are frequently out of stock, and I don't encounter them on major online retail sites, and never in pipe shops. I'm not sure what their sustaining customer base is, since they are still in business.
