Hedge (Osage Orange) is the only kind of corner post or line post I use for new barbed wire fences on my place.

Hedge is so durable, that a hedge post dug and set upside down, will last a hundred years!

Install one correctly, big side down, they’ll last until Christ comes to call His faithful home.

Hedge is so hard, it can be used to make bearings.

It is so hard to burn, a big round piece of hedge was used to keep a fire overnight by placing the “keeper log” on top of a burning fire of other hardwoods then shutting all the dampers on the King stove.

If this didn’t melt the stove, or cause a flue fire, the keeper log would burn all night and in the morning new split oak wood could be placed on the remains of hedge keeper and in no time you’d have a good fire again. It was positively dangerous to use for firewood, because if you could get hedge lit, it burned so hot and so long many an old home burned down because of using hedge, especially green hedge.

I want a hedge pipe!

I’ve always wondered why hedge wasn’t used during WW2 instead of Mission Briar.
