EDIT: Fixed Capitalization in Title (See Rule 9)

I would like to replace the stem on a couple of my cobs, a Great Dane and a General. I don’t want to use the original M.M. Stems.
I learned of the Forever Stems on the forum but I see they are not available.
Have they stop making them?
If that is the case, is there any other good source?

The Forever Stems people retired, as I understand it. I enjoyed refitting several of my MM cobs with their stems. In recent years, MM cobs has produced special edition series that come stock with acrylic stems, and I highly recommend those when available. These are about $25. Meantime, I don't know of any outfit that does stems specifically for MM cobs, though any pipe repair person can retrofit your cobs to your specifications at reasonable cost ... if they will accept the job. I've found that MM cobs last a long time so are worth the expense, to not have the soft plastic stems that I chew through in months. It's tiresome to start over with another soft plastic stem. Many thanks to the Forever Stems people for their long years of good work.

Yes, the are (were) great stems and will be missed by cob lovers. Others have said it already -- it's surprising nobody picked up the business. I'll have to take good care of mine.

I saw the other day that they closed shop. I always planned on purchasing a few but never got around to it. I was too late to the party again.

Yes, I had one retrofitted by a local tobacconist, some years ago.
However, I followed your suggestions and ordered few of the ones with the acrylic stem. Very nice cobs, I did not even know they were available. Thanks a lot.

One good thing about the Forever Stems is that, in the unlikely event that you actually wear out a MM cob but not the Forever Stem, you can use it on another. As I recall, the stems are specific to either non-filter or filter MM cobs, so you'd have to buy accordingly, and then off you'd go again for another thirty years or so.

The first aftermarket stems I bought for my cobs were from Vermontfreehand.com

They still have the fancy acrylic ones available. For a third of the price as forever stems.

Edit: Nevermind, looks like they are out of stock too.....

I followed your suggestion and the Degner Poker arrived yesterday, great pipe, thank you. The stem is perfect. I have few more coming.

By the way, a whole pipe at the equivalent price of an inexpensive stem. It can't get better than that!
