I know there are some guitar players here.

I’m doing a refret for a friend and was thinking about photo documenting it here if anyone wants to see the process.

My “day job” is building guitars for a boutique builder here in Nashville. I also do setup and repair work for friends on the weekend.

Just wanted to gauge the interest before I post a bunch of pics.

After my pipes and tobacco, picking and plunking my guitar(s) is a great source of bemusement. I've been playing C, D, and G for years on any guitar I can find and I've found a couple right in the dumpsters outside my condo complex. I have purchased a couple as well. I've seen some of the greatest players ever in live performance and I know I'll never be famous for my abilities but I still enjoy the practice of making harmonious noises.
I've had a chance to pluck on a few pretty decent guitars in the last year or so, including a Gibson Custom Shop 'pre-war' J-45, a nice Larivee, and an Orangewood.
My Japanese made Ibanez V300 was sitting in its case on top of a pile of crap one early morning in a dumpster outside my place. I couldn't see it until I pried up a corner of its old, beat up looking case and immediately saw the natural spruce top. Without further inspection, I snatched that case and walked back home. I found a beautiful full sized dreadnaught made around 1973 by one of the premiere Japanese guitar factories. I replaced the strings and swept out cobwebs from the sound hole, changed the nut and bridge to bone and voila, I've got almost the equal to a Martin. For free. That's how I roll.
I usually pick up and plunk about 3 or 4 times a day. I did actually BUY a nice little classical recently and it is fun to experiment with and easy on the fingers. Nylon! Great tone, wider finger board. I like to rotate between various picks and just finger picking. Different strokes and all.
