Hallo Gentlemen .

I used strawberry wood I founded on the mountains, bamboo from my last year trip to Texas, stainless tubing and ebonite from India.

The pipe is balanced on the bamboos knotes ,so is a sitter one .

I hope you like her :)

Lot's of different parts coming together on that pipe. It looks like the joinery between the bamboo and the shank is very precise. Good work!

I think it's unique in every way, especially the stem. The pattern and colors are fantastic and the shape is unusually fulsome.

The craftsmanship looks excellent.

Thank you Gentlemen:)

Unfortunately on my island there is no briar ,instead there's a lot of strawberry wood and olives ...

Actually I learnt pipe carving on them and

ofcource those woods.

As I said the ebonite is from India ,its economical and they have very interesting

colours :)

Strawberry wood belongs to the Erica family, its heat resistant ,its very light

but it hasn't the bird eyes and the flames briar has..

Thanks again ..

I watched a video about Japanese carpentry, wherein the master builder said that a good carpenter learns to work with the wood that is available to him.
Hence my own desire for Bamboo. Because it's everywhere and has many of the same desirable properties of Briar.
I like the pipe. Did you run the metal cannula through the entire course of the root?

Thank you :)

No,on that one are twoo pieces of tubing..

One to connect the bowl to the shank and the second as tennon fixed on the bamboo to avoid any crack.

I had before some bamboo sanked pipes from stanwell and I destroyed all of them :(

That's why if you noticed also the Medusa pipe I m trying to create strong constructions :)

I use tubing and stainless rings (hate to polish silver ) in many ways

Ok stainless is heavier but thats my own philosophy .

I like stainless too. It is readily available here as hydraulic tubing and hypodermic tubing.
Thanks for the ideas!

It sure is a distinctive looker, lovingly done. I admire your exploring the materials at hand rather than sending off for something else.
