A Near Perfect Day

So I've recently started a new chapter in my personal life and for the first time in a long time I'm excited for what the future may bring. I made a trip out to the West End of Toronto yesterday for the day and on the way home across the top of this great city I brought out my Lorenzetti bent billiard. This thing has a huge bowl and is a real easy hanger, just perfect for the hour plus long car ride home. I grabbed a coffee, lit up and hit the highway with a smile. The sun was shining, the traffic was moving, the pipe was simmering just beautifully and the coffee was good. I cranked up the tunes on my phone, a little Lynyrd Skynrd, Metallica, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Barenaked Ladies (a rather eclectic mix to be sure) and just puffed away in bliss.
Take it from me, sometimes the simple things in life are the best. There will always be another day to get things right, and even when it seems truly bleak you can find joy and happiness in life. That doing it all with a pipe in tow makes it better is just a bonus.

One of my favorite quotes, i have a large wooden plaque with that quote and Bob's smiling face hanging on the wall over my bed. It was also one of my high school senior yearbook quotes many years ago.

The pipe slows us down enough to reflect on the beauty of simplicity.
I get more out of life by taking the time to set aside all things pending and just enjoy a moment alone with my pipe.

Good stuff, I love how the simplest of things can be the most meaningful sometimes. A few weeks back, I spent the first beautiful day of spring cleaning up all the winter mess from my lawn. I kept headphones on, and a pipe in my mouth the whole day. Some might see yard work as a chore, I see it as peaceful.

Taking the time out of a busy day to enjoy a pipe or two helps me collect my thoughts and appreciate the "here and now"; perhaps with a good book and some relaxing music. I am probably more productive for having taken the time.

Thanks guys, it was a fantastic day. I finished it up on the back deck with another bowl in a different pipe and my dog at my side watching the sun set while the kids played peacefully (for a change) inside. Its days like this that remind you that it ain't all bad!
