deniz ... all these were common British otc blends. Some (eg Clan and Gold Block) were fine ribbon cuts .. but others (eg Condor and St Bruno) were less so. You could buy flake tobaccos but they tended not to be advertised on TV. Re the 'Scoop' - there is the 'old codger scoop' whereby experienced smokers could fill their pipe like that. I fact, I do myself if I am filling it on the move. However, in the ads I expect that they use the scoop to avoid spending more than a second or two on that shot.

PS Mellow Virginia isn't a bad tobacco at all. Here's my fave MV ad, not in the above group: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P96wWx_fVyQ

Thanks for that Mike, it brought back memories :)
My personal favourites were the Condor ads...hilarious.
Oh and yes, Mellow Virginia is a great OTC blend :puffy:

Ha ha, thanks for this!! I like the St. Bruno one a lot.

It seems they all load with the codger stuff method..

"The Condor/toy submarine one is a favorite."
John, don't tell the Ruskies but they are our Trident carrying deterrent. Do they really look like toys? I sincerely hope not 8O

Jay.
