Received this little Livorno. I cannot find any information about this brand. A number of pipe brands come out of Livorno, but I cannot find any with that particular name. Here it is as I received it.

I gave it a good bath:

With the rim as chewed up as it is, I'm going to sand this down and clean it up. The stem, on the other hand, has very little damage. It will just need a good polishing.

After 220 and 320 dry sanding, I go to 800 through 3000 wet sanding with alcohol.

Here we see the fully sanded stummel prior to polishing. This pipe has wonderful grain. Its coloring suggests to me that the briar is quite old (although the pipe might not be).

A lot of times at this point I will add a little color. In this case, I simply took it through the normal buffing/waxing stages. It turned out quite nicely.

Looking for something else (isn't that the way it goes?) I stumbled upon this pipe. Another Livorno, this one called "Vallejo" :
