Just opened a new box of Vauen 6mm filters bought through Smith & Frank on Amazon. In the box I found an OCB filter. Are these made by Vauen then? Anybody use them before? They look similar. Can’t figure out how else it got in there.

According to Pfeifen Huber website apparently Vauen also makes Stanwell filters and probably many other. How many pipe filter makers can the market support as Sigmund previously stated. Probably the same with cleaners.

I think Vauen probably makes their own stuff as well as pipe cleaners. The smaller brands of filters are likely made by Vauen and Kopp. White elephant are kopp. I think Molina 9mm are also kopp. Its a whole lot easier to have someone with the machinery make and label it for you.

Perhaps the specificatons on how much AC is in each is is different. Vauen also might not share their specific formula for AC with others and just do runs of filters with more generic AC. When you have machinery it is important, as a business, to keep it in use and bringing in cash. If nothing else you dont what that employee or employees sitting around with their hands in their pocket.

I have used the Dr Perl Jr 6mm filters, they do a good job with very wet tobacco. They also tend to slow the draw substantially, and don't always fit some of my 6mm pipes (quite snug). I generally prefer paper filters like Medico.
