This film of eleven minutes of the game where Roberto Clemente got his 3,000 and final regular season hit fifty years ago today has no sound, but you will see more than the usual clip of the hit. In this case, Roberto goes to the plate at the five minute mark, and gets a hit for the ages.

Well, Roberto was my hero as a child, and he still is all these years later. From little league to semi-pro ball, I always wore his number in tribute. As I often played right field, you can imagine what that meant to me.

Loved him! Was partial to Billy Williams and still have the 28 oz Louisville Slugger with his name on it I bought at the local outdoor store walking home the last day of school of fourth grade!

My favorite Roberto "story" is how reporters supposedly stopped asking how he was doing since the next 3-5 minutes would be filled with a lengthy response pertaining to everything (from body parts being sore to what he liked about breakfast and everything in between).

Detroiter here that enjoys the City of Pittsburgh, its sports teams, the regatta, and blue collar style. For what it's worth, I did own a Roberto shirt growing up.
