“Re-Drilling” as a Repair?

Can this chamber be “re-drilled” to a larger bore to “repair” the char? Is that even an option in pipe repair?

Yes it can be done.

It's VERY tricky to get right, though, and has no re-wind button.

Thank you. I can imagine the smell must be awful while drilling?

I'd chamfer it to reduce risk, rim surface loss, and change of chamber size.

If the chamber is sound you may consider to top it a bit and put a larger radius on the chamber edge

Bought a large lot of pipes and a few need chamber work. This is the worst of them with the char at the rim. They arrive tomorrow and I am guessing this chamber is scorched. But chamfer may be an option

Yeah, if it’s just the edge, maybe a light top and bevel it. If the whole backside is burned you should investigate how deep it goes. It’s often pretty bad. People sometimes use a bowl coating over a burn. It might work. Or it might burn more under the coating.
If it’s not too bad, clean it up and smoke it.
