Understanding Tin Dating For Sam Gawith/GH

Thanks! That's a great post. My only problem is that I have a tin of Commonwealth with no stamps of any kind. No red logo, no UPC. Picked it up from a B&M a few years ago. I expect it's pretty well aged (tin seal is still good); when I decide to open it I'll probably smoke it as an old VA...

Things I Will Do When Dunhill Tobaccos End

#7 - done. #5 - perilously close if I over-indulge in news programming. You could also move to Denver or Seattle and research a custom blend called My Mixture 420...

Esoterica Penzance 1 Oz Bag for 9.99

Concur. My local guy sells Penzance for $36 a bag (Stonehaven as well) and seems to have no problem stocking it (yes, that's not common). So $10/oz is $80/bag, not a bad deal. But it still is a nice option to be able to get a pinch for a trial at a reasonable price for smokers not so advantaged.

    Another Olivewood

Thank you! That's a crazy design, and very cool. Appreciate it!

    Another Olivewood

I love these posts of yours, though they make me a little envious. LOL You willing to post a couple more pics of that pipe? Looks REALLY cool....

Oh No, I've Done It Again, 18K

Aww man, I saw "18k" I thought this was a pic thread of a new pipe with a gold-plated spigot mount or something... Seriously, I concur with this - you're one of this place's "good guys". :)

    [Review] Taco Bell Flatulence

There ARE no samples - it's either a full bowl, er... bowel, well both actually, or nothing.

    [Review] Taco Bell Flatulence

In my many years of experience with TBF, it's only been available in bulk. Vast, vast bulk...

What Is Your Favorite Quote or Motto to Live By?

I have 2, both from myself: Public conduct is image; private deeds are character. Some days you're the dozer, some days you're the dirt.

    SG Squadron Leader With Perique

Cool experiment, glad it's worked out. I have 3 tins of the special-edition SL with Perique which I'm interested to try - I think lighter English blends are interesting in the right weather and mood, and that one should be good...

    Counter-Intuitive Flake Technique

4.a. Press the "Any" key. Sorry... I've read about the twist then load-folded-end-up thing recently, haven't had a chance to try it yet. I suck at flakes with a capital SUCK, so I'm curious to try this.

Match the Pipe and Tobacco to the World Leader

Well, when I saw the thread title I thought "Walnut for Kim Young'un, because he's nuts...", but you have him covered already LOL.

    Some Premium Tobacco, MUST BE?!

Wow - wish I could afford that. I wouldn't actually DO it, but I wish I could afford to. :)

What's it worth? Penzance 8 ounce bag.

Concur. My local guy has no problem getting it, and charges 34.99 for the 8-oz bag. Stonehaven as well. This stuff is not freaking gold or platinum, or even depleted uranium...

What About Adding Fresh Tobacco On Top Of Dottle?

Meh, dump it and don't worry about it. I've posted this ad nauseam on different forums - a full bowl of tobacco is as much or less tobacco than a cigar nub I'd feed to the garden, so I don't get too concerned about a little pipe leavin's. :)

Smoking Earns Movies an R Rating?

I can't remember the show, but we recently saw something whose introductory warnings were "This program is recommended for mature audiences only - it contains realistic war violence and historical smoking." Truth...

    The last Cooke Calabash

I rather enjoy the selfies - gives a good perspective on the size of the pipe. I LIKE that one - is the cap a different hardwood, or part of the briar?
