Time To Let Some Go 05/09/2015

Decided to thin the herd down for another commission. Too many here that are not being smoked. Peterson Aran billiard, great smoker that just fell out of my rotation. $55 shipped. Johs 1/8 bent billiard that smokes like a dream. Just a taller bowl than I prefer. $55 shipped Larocca...

Another Duck Season Comes To An End...

Today marked the end of yet another fine season. Had some fantastic time with friends, and did well this season. Closed it out in style today with a full limit of Mallard, teal, and Wood Ducks. I hate to see it go, but am ready for the time to rest as well. Another bowl breaking in my new Layton...

    Layton Calabash Completed

Clark has finished my pipe and sent the final pictures to me. This man has a lot of talent and my pipe looks amazing. I cannot wait to get it in my hands and fire up a fine Virginia flake in it. I know it will be a great smoker. B

    Another Layton Begins

Today Clark began work on my second commission. This on is a bent Calabash/Rhodesian, I think it could go either way. It is going to be a flake smoking champion. B

    Clark Layton Bent Apple

Clark emailed me the finished pictures tonight. I must say that Clark definitely nailed this one. It is exactly as I had pictured it would be, and I cannot wait to get it! I think it will smoke amazingly well with my English blends. B

    Clark Layton Commission

After Peck's thread of his XXL billiards I was intrigued by Layton's work. He started work Sunday on my commission. A bent apple that is going to be a beauty I think. It will be a sandblast with a smooth rim. Cumberland stem, with a dark blast, and the rim will have a dark brown/red stain. B

    Let The Morta Begin

Well Todd Harris is starting my next commission this coming week. Decided last minute to make it a morta. I saw a picture here of a Heeschen bamboo Dublin that Peck had which really caught my eye. Todd is doing a rendition of this Bamboo Dublin in Morta with a Cumberland stem. Can't wait to see it!

    First Antique Store Project

Went for a little antiquing today before meeting my wife for lunch. Went into a shop I have seen several pipes at previously. She had a Nice looking sandblasted lovat in the rack today. This pipe is a Ranga made in London England. Best I could find it's a GBD Second. Fnord had a thread on here...

    Delta Waterfowl

I'm curious if there are any members of Delta Waterfowl here? After becoming extremely addicted to duck hunting last year I have come to realize that the local chapters banquet is only a couple of weeks away, and I have decided to attend. Purchased my banquet ticket today, which also includes my...

    Escudo Progression

After Pecks thread on some well aged Escudo the other day I got to thinking. I am about a bowl away from finishing off some Dunhil Navy Rolls, so it's time for another VaPer to be opened. I reached into the Escudo stack and found a few that are right at a year old. I am only used to this tobacco...

In A Tough Spot, No More Pipe Tobacco...

Well I found myself between a rock and a hard place tonight. I have a passion for duck hunting, and have been trying to convince my lovely wife to no avail. We were discussing it again tonight, and she finally made me an offer. If I refrained from any pipe tobacco purchases for a year then I...

    Anyone heard from Quincy?

Just wondering if anyone has heard from him or has a means of contact other than here? Have some trade business dating back to 12-4-13, that although it had some leniency in time date to him attempting to track something down it has been too long. I've sent him Pm's checking in fairly regular as...

Tis A Great End Of Day

Finally walked out of the factory that I have wanted to leave for the last time mere minutes ago. 4.5 years there, and though I'm thankful I had the job for that time I have not enjoyed it. Poured myself a nip of 18 yr Laphroaig to celebrate. No tobacco just yet as I need to get some rest and...

    New Orleans Trip

Finally acquired a new job that I have been after for a while. In between jobs the wife and I are taking a trip to New Orleans to celebrate. Any tips for the piper as to any tobacco related shops that I should check out? B

Todd Harris Smashed One Out Of The Park!!!

Extremely excited for this package to arrive. Todd complete my commission and it looks incredible. It's based off of a castello shape that is hybrid of sorts between an apple/billiard/pot. I wanted a cumberland stem and he did a stain scheme I liked from his site. I'll let the pictures speak for...

    Another Restoration Attempt

Have been neglecting a restoration that I have been wanting to do. Finally I decided today I was going to take the time to do it. I traded for this Savinelly Autograph a while back on here, and it's finally ready to go. I had to stop finally on the top before I started to pull any stain off. I...

    Traditional Archery

I have multiple hobbies outside of pipes, and one of them is the passion for traditional archery. Of course at weekend shoots often pipe smoking makes its way into this other hobby as well. I started into archery as a young lad shooting with my father, and older brother. We took plenty of time...

Curious as to who of you have pipes by Todd Harris? How happy are you with them? Smoking Qualities? Etc. his work looks quite nice from what I've seen. Still trying to determine where a rhodesian commission is going to come from. As much as I want to go ahead and Commission it with Rad right...
