Recommendations for Low Harshness High Nicotine Blends

Another vote for Peterson Irish flake. Extremely smooth with a very respectable nic kick. Also readily available and reasonably priced.

    Cheap Buffing Wheel Setup?

This one will get you going in your desired price range. I haven't used this particular one so can't vouch for durability, just offering it up as food for thought. It's low speed is rated at 2000 rpm, which if used with a 6" wheel (which this one seems to accept) will give you ~comparable~...

    Heat Sealing Question

I've also read about people using something along the lines of this thing. Can't vouch for how well it works but might be worth some experimentation. Hair Straightener

Opening a 10 Year Old Sealed Mason Jar

This is the conditions that most cigars are "aged" under. Fresh air is introduced at some frequency during the aging process. Anaerobic activity is certainly kept to a minimum under these circumstances but the tobacco does change over time.

Inexpensive Readily Available Virgina Type Blends To Start A Cellar

Not a bulk, but in the tinned tobacco arena Orlik Golden Sliced is always readily available, good quality, and significantly cheaper than most other tinned offerings.

McClelland: "We're Just Going to Close the Doors"

Sad to see such a time honored and beloved brand forced out of business by government regulations, but their reasoning is perfectly understandable. I wish these fine folks the best in the future and I personally will miss their products.

    I applaud your honesty.

    Atlanta Pipe Club Review

Google has it at 4320 Settendown Village Rd #800, Cumming, GA 30041. Way to far for me to go. I'm south of Atlanta otherwise I might check it out, but 90 miles and have to go through Atlanta. Eeekkk!!

Warning: Dumb Question, Maybe - Tinned vs Bulk

At one time bulk SPC Plum Pudding was produced by Russ O, while the tinned version was produced by Sutliff. I think Sutliff is now the sole producer, but it was one of those really rare occasions where bulk and tinned were produced by separate facilities. I was gifted a partial tin first and...

    White Whale DE Safety Razor

I have a '21-'28 OLD type open comb and a 1940 tech. Both are a little aggressive for me, i'm currently using an adjustable dialed down pretty low. :) Collecting is pretty fun, and razors are WAY easier to restore than pipes, lol.

Smoking Enforcement Getting Out of Hand

So you are saying they are handy for when a police officer wants to abuse his authority? I'm glad not all law enforcement looks at things in that manner, and I've known many that would never do what you are suggesting.

    HU tobaccos

If you like a non-Lat oriental blend then Joschi's Oriental Sunrise is pretty amazing.

Watched the good, the bad and the ugly last night

Pretty sure that's a WDC Wellington he's smoking. A very similar system to a Pete, and period incorrect to be sure. :)

    Which Reamer is the Best?

I have all the different reaming tools & toys, but once I got my hands on a Cook's I've never used anything else. And they are pretty inexpensive to pickup on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cooks-Pipe-Reamer-Metal-Adjustable-Blades-/332184673249?hash=item4d57bfdbe1:g:yrIAAOSwRUhY8s2Q

    2016-2017 Box Pass Thread

I actually had to step away from the box pass, at least for the moment. :( Had a really big project land in my lap at work which is consuming most of my time. I'm not actively logging in and posting much right now due to time constraints, so felt it was better to step away from the pass for a...

    An Interesting Hesson

Both of Hesson's most used patents were based on the concept of a metal tube that reaches from the draft hole of the bowl to the mouthpiece of the stem. The idea is that the moisture from the combustion of the tobacco will condense inside the metal tube and not in the shank, therefore making...

    An Interesting Hesson

That's very interesting pipe troutface. I have about 20 of the Hesson threaded tenon pipes and they all have the triangle stem logo and the inverted triangle shank stamping. From what I can see from the picture, yours appears to be of the exact same construction. Is there any WDC markings...

    Oxy-Clean?

Honest answer is, I don't know. I haven't really seen that much difference in how they perform. I've always just considered them to be different forms for different purposes (cloths, dishwashing, etc.). Basically the ingredients produce hydrogen peroxide when mixed with water. I've never...

    Oxy-Clean?

Oxiclean doesn't actually remove any oxidation from a vulcanite stem. Vulcanite is a composite material made from natural rubber impregnated with sulfur. It's the sulfur component of the material that becomes oxidized by light, heat, and oxygen and forms the green/gray discoloration on the...
