    Virginia Suggestions Please

+1 to Mac Baren Virginia No. 1. I just tried this blend earlier this week and fell in love with it. From even the first few puffs, that delicious virginia taste hits your palate, and you get sent to pipe smoking nirvana. Seriously though, hyperbole aside, it really is good stuff.

Any Fans of Mac Baren 7 Seas Blends?

Good to know guys, and I really appreciate your input on these blends. After the absolutely great experience with the Virginia No. 1, I am really looking forward to trying these. I think with aeromatic blends, you have (sort of) two pre-determined "camps". Those who like aeros in general, and...

    Newbie.

Welcome to the forum. :-) It's always great to see someone come to, or return to pipe smoking. There are a lot of good folks, and knowledgeable people on here, and the conversation is fun and friendly.

Any Fans of Mac Baren 7 Seas Blends?

Thank you for your input everyone. As it just so happens, I was fortunate enough to try two different Mac Barens blends tonight, at the DM Pipe Club meeting. However, they weren't the 7 Seas blends. I did get to try Golden Extra, and Virginia No. 1. Golden extra tastes pretty darn good IMO. The...

Any Fans of Mac Baren 7 Seas Blends?

Thanks for the input guys. I am hoping to like some of these blends, as the price is certainly right, and I am a cheapskate! I have some 7 Seas original (some refer to this as White) that will be coming to me from a trade I made, so I will have an opportunity to sample some soon. It's...

Any Fans of Mac Baren 7 Seas Blends?

Hey all, As a new pipe smoker, I am still on the hunt for my daily "go to" blend. So far, it's essentially Carter Hall, but I would like to move beyond only smoking an OTC blend (not that there is anything wrong with that, as I am doing just that as I type this). I have recently discovered that...

    Carter Hall Virgin

I am a big fan of CH and "chain smoke" it all the time. :P IMO, it's good, cheap, easy to find, and pretty darn tasty to boot. If you are looking for Carter Hall, and do not have a tobacco shop nearby, try looking at grocery stores, and gas stations for it. It seems to always be readily...

Des Moines Pipe Club May Meeting: 5/23!

Just giving a little bump to the Des Moines, Iowa Pipe Club thread. Hope to see you all tonight! :D

    Fancy Lucite Stems

Good to know Rothnh. Thanks for the info and the link. :)

Could I Have Some Sort of Latakia Sensitivity?

Thank you for your input, and advice everyone. I did some looking and found that FMC contains virginia, and latakia. Panzance contains virginia, latakia, oriental, and turkish tobaccos. I don't think that the problematic tobacco is the virginia, because Half & Half and Carter Hall are comprised...

    Fancy Lucite Stems

Kasmir, I just stumbled across this thread, and I am in awe. Very cool what you have done with these. I like the fact that having this done makes the pipes exclusively yours, and meeting your exact specifications. I am already brainstorming ideas of what I would like to have done. In...

Could I Have Some Sort of Latakia Sensitivity?

Thanks for your input guys. I went to a web site and compared the tobaccos in the FMC and Penzance blends, and the only thing they have in common is latakia. All signs point to the fact that latakia just doesn't "agree with my body", if that makes any sense. That's a real bummer too, as I like...

Could I Have Some Sort of Latakia Sensitivity?

Hey all, I have a question here. Have any of you heard about pipe smokers with a sensitivity toward Latakia? I ask because the first time I tried Frog Morton's Cellar, I swore that it made me feel ill. It turned out I was actually getting ill, so I dismissed it as simply that, I was sick. I...

Just Won My First Ebay Auction (Mr. Brog)

Congrats on the new Mr. Brog. :) Please report back to us on how it smokes. These pipes seem to be gaining in popularity all the time. I feel like I should try to get one (or more) now, before Mr. Brog catches on, and raises his prices. I am being (kind of) serious with that statement. :wink...

Finally Learned the Difference Between Bite and Burn

LOL! Well, I am glad I am not the only one to have these sorts of issues. I have an undying love of spicy foods, and an endless case of tongue burn...as you can imagine, this is NOT a good combination at all. :?

    Cellar

Very nice. I hope to one day have a nice cellar built up as well. I see some of the cellars on here and am literally floored by how much you have on hand at all times. VERY inspiring, to say the least. :D

A Couple Questions About Overly Dry Tobacco

Thanks guys for the info. I decided to go about it "the easy way" and just add in some wet aeromatics. I added Chocolate and Cherry Cavendish. I emptied all four pouches into a large ziplock freezer bag, and mixed them up really well. I had to test how my experiment worked, so I loaded up a...

A Couple Questions About Overly Dry Tobacco

Hey all. I recently picked up a pouch of Sir Walter Raleigh to try, and found when I opened the pouch that the tobacco was very dry, almost too dry IMO. Well, I had bought Half & Half before, and thought that it came a bit wet it the pouch, so my idea was to simply combine the two pouches and...

Tried Zippo With Standard Insert Yesterday

I use a regular Zippo with the fluid that comes in the black bottle. No issues with tasting the fluid as long as I wait a few seconds before putting flame to pipe. It works well for me.
