    Recieved New Icarus Today

So i just recieved my new Icarus from Iwan Ries today. I have been eyeing this one for awhile now. Loaded her up with some Red Virginia (from Epicure's in Springfield, Il). She smokes wonderfully. Very light as well. BTW, any idea on the shape? Cheers! :puffy:

    Transition To Dentures, Any Tips?

I am going to be getting dentures in the very near future. Does anybody have any help, tips, etc.? I would be mighty glad. I am a little nervous about the switch from real teeth (albeit, bad ones). Thanks. Josh...

    English/Aromatic Crossover Suggestions Please!

I love latakia, but sometimes like a bit of sweetness with it. I love all the Frog Morton Series blends, but am having a hard time finding more flavored latakia blends. If anybody has any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all! Josh S.

    My New Nording

I just picked up this Nording Signature from Gatlin-Burlier in Gatlinburg Tennessee. It smokes very well, and I've been breaking it in with Old Dark Fired. The gent running the shop (very nice and helpful) showed me how much his Nording has changed over 14 years. It will be very fun watching...

    New Einstein Wallet Score

I picked up an awesome Einstein wallet at our local mall today. I believe it has the same image as the T shirts that were available at target recently, as was posted a few months ago. Nothing special about the wallet itself, just thought I would share this with all of you guys and gals. Cheers...

    Clay Pipe Repair Help Needed

There is a hairline vertical crack on the bowl of this pipe, just above the stem. Is there any way to repair this crack before it becomes worse? I have no idea what I could put on the crack that would both be safe to smoke from and withstand the heat of the clean cycle of an oven(the recommended...

    A Real Eye Opening Experience

I have had quite the eye opening experience. Actually the opening was done to the draft hole in an old Dr. Grabow Freehand i hardly ever smoked. I have been reading Rick Newcombe's "In Search of Pipe Dreams" and I was really interested in his views about how wide a draft hole should be. So I...

    Looking For Latakia/Oriental Blend Reccomendations

Hey guys and gals, i'm on the hunt for a good oriental with some Latakia in the mix. Now I know that Lat is technically an oriental, but that is beside the point. I have tried a few heavy orientals; such as Skiff Mixture and Frog Morton Across the Pond. I was thinking about trying some of the...

    My Servi Meerschaum Viking

I got this nice little meer from someone my mom works with, who was convinced this was ivory, so I assured him it is not and therefore legal to sell. Anyway it smokes very well and looks very neat too. I thought I would share it with you guys, cause we all love eye candy around here (at least I...

    My Recent Antique Haul

Yesterday I bought these five pipes while antiquing . From the top down they are: Kaywoodie Fine Line Prince in excellent shape, a no name bent Rhodesian , Sunrise Amber Grain Bulldog, Yello-Bole Imperial Nosewarmer, and a Frank Medico that needs some stem work. I paid $60 for them, and if they...

Should Tobacco Tins Contain A "Prize"?

Other than tobacco, should tobacco companies contain a little something extra, along the lines of Rattray's blend booklet, such as a tamper, coupon, details of upcoming blends? I personally think it may not be a bad idea to give the extra incentive for us pipe smokers to buy a particular blend...

    Any Good Classic Book Recomendations?

I am almost finished reading The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and could use some recommendations. I want to read a good classic book in any genre. I was thinking about either 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Moby Dick, or something by Mark Twain. Any suggestions are welcome and greatly appreciated...

    My Penn Valley Clay Pipe

Here is my new Penn Valley Clay pipe. It is a marbled "Dutch Gouda" style. It smokes entirely different from any briar, cob or meerschaum I've ever smoked. It is quite neat and just plain fun to smoke!

    Are Used Pipe Cleaners Recycleable?

I recycle cans, and wondered if I could recycle all the used pipe cleaners I just throw away. Seems a shame to just let them sit in an ever expanding hole in the ground, when they could be used to make other things. Plus when we turn our cans in, we get paid, so that would be just a slight...

    My Visit To Gatlin-Burlier (Pic)

I found out about this tobacconist from Roth an the internet. It was amazing. First of all I was welcomed by an older gentleman, who promptly said " If you brought your pipe, load a bowl". He was extremely friendly and helpful. We just chatted while I tried a few house blends. I ended up leaving...
