    AI Generated Art

The way it works is the computer has access to a massive image library with tags for what is in the picture. You give it a phrase and it interprets the phrase and tries to create an image with those things in it. Then it compares that picture to other pictures in the database and rates how...

    AI Generated Art

I've run across that experiment while studying the the "hard problem of consciousness". From what I remember it asserts that computers are not capable of thinking as they are just following instructions. It may look like thinking from the outside, but on the inside it's just following a set of...

    AI Generated Art

It is truly amazing what computers are capable of now. You can type a description of what you want and the artificial intelligence engine will generate what you asked for. It actually generates it, it's not just picking out what you want from existing images.

    Great Photos Thread

Took this hiking up a waterfall last fall. Somewhere in the mountains of North Carolina.

    Sanding an Old Friend

It may be worth picking up a cheap pipe to experiment with before I start in on my old friend. I'm all about trying new things and learning. Thanks to everyone who has replied!

    Sanding an Old Friend

I am wondering if I might take it down to natural briar. I am no pipe maker nor even a woodworker. It may be that you can't do this after it's been stained?

Will that make the pipe taste of nail polish remover? Assuming you don't put it inside the pipe that is.

    Getting Ready for Fall.

I mainly stop in summer because it's hot and humid ?. Also to give me old body a break to recover from smoking all fall and winter. It's about 87f with a nice intermittent breeze here today and I'm almost comfortable on the front porch in Indian Trail, NC.

    Getting Ready for Fall.

Just came in, and first impressions are good, I don't have a lot of experience with the smokey blends but they are growing on me. My wife is not going to like it but that's ok. I will spend some time with the 1 oz I got and let you know what I think then!

    Sanding an Old Friend

This is my first pipe. It's stamped "Italy" on the bottom of the shank with no other markings. I picked it out of a basket at a Tinder Box 24 years ago. It has immense sentimental value and smokes as good as any pipe I've had. It is starting to show the wear and tear of time and use however...

    Getting Ready for Fall.

Thank you for the suggestions, I'll put them in the "cart" for the future. Also, technicly, you are right. It's still summer. However my wife says it's pre-fall. That means it's fall-ish in the mountains. In my brain, this means I can buy tobacco.

    Getting Ready for Fall.

I tried the Three Nuns after hearing it was a favorite of one of my favorites, C. S. Lewis. I took a liking to it and my wife likes the room note. It's been interesting to see my progression into non aromatics over the years.

    Getting Ready for Fall.

Title edited for caps. Please read rule 9. I usually smoke during the fall and winter and stop in the spring and summer. Got my first order coming in to prepare for the coming fall! I've had the Three Nuns and quite like it. The other two I've never tried. Regards, Mike

Clever or Stupid? Drying My Pipe.

Have you never heard of a liquid cooled PC?! ?

Clever or Stupid? Drying My Pipe.

Thanks for all the response! I'll usually let it air dry but if I notice any moisture in the bowl I just pop it on the computer for 20 minutes and then smoke. I usually have at least 2-4 hours between bowls. It's getting to the humid part of the year for North Carolina so I tend to get...

Clever or Stupid? Drying My Pipe.

I only have one pipe at the moment so if I want to have more than one fill a day I place the pipe upside down on the top of my PC which has a huge fan venting the warm air. Is this going to damage my pipe? The fans are pretty large but slow (700 rpm).

    40th Bday Pipe

I propose we adopt the hobbit method of celebrating birthdays, but with pipes.

    A Gentleman's Pipe is a Man's Pipe

In my case, a man's pipe is the one he has. The man makes the pipe.
