    FVF Group Tasting Sample Reviews

Apologies for the necro post, but I've been away from pipe forums for a while and just saw this thread. Wanted to post my appreciation to ash for facilitating this generous and informative enterprise, and to everyone who participated and posted their impressions and photos. It's been a...

What is the BEST American Virginia blend?

List of prime contenders includes McC Blackwoods Flake, McC Dark Star, McCranie's Red Ribbon, McCranie'sRed Flake, GLP Union Square. Candidates with early good marks, but requiring further investigation, include: C&D Opening Night, various vintages of McC Christmas Cheer, McC Rich Virginia...

    Best Tin Tobaccos for Aging?

I'm not sure which you are referring to. McCelland does offer bulk mixtures, which are typically shipped in plastic bags. These I'd recommend to be carefully mason jarred, all things being equal. (Mylar bags are another option, but their longevity isn't as well-established as jars, yet.) If...

    Best Tin Tobaccos for Aging?

Jud's advice above is spot on. As long as it's not heavily cased, cellar what you like. :) I've also got a spot of BBF stashed away. Not a ton, but some. Maybe I should dig some out and give it a go... :)

    Interstellar. Massive disappointment

I liked it a lot more when I stopped hoping trying to cram it into a hard sci-fi mold. There was a certain "McConaughey" element to the story, for sure. Generally, I thought it was 70% very good, 20% dubious, and 10% outstanding. Overall, I recommend it.

    Conan The Thread Hammer!

Just a quick note: Ken Burns' Civil War is available to stream on Netflix. No need to wait for the programming puppetmasters.

    The Future of Pipe Smoking

Jorge, I would agree if the only goal of the tax was to gain revenue. But as you mentioned, there's a social engineering purpose: to reduce the use of tobacco. So the tax rate could easily be increased over time as revenues decrease.

Lord of the Rings series tin of tobacco

Ok. I'm a moderator for tobaccoreviews.com, and I care very much about keeping the database clean and accurate, as much as my time allows. These are the different blends in question here: (1) There is a Just for Him blend called "Old Toby". The TR link is here. The JFH shop link is here. (2)...
