Sources of Info On Old Meerschaum Pipes

About once a month someone comes into Missouri Meerschaum Company with an old, true meerschaum pipe seeking information about it. Since they are usually not members of our honorable hobby, they do not know the difference between a Missouri Meerschaum and a true meerschaum. Often they have...

    Early Corncob, Missouri Pipes

This pipe could be from the 1950s through 1970s, but no later than the mid-1970s. The stem is probably bone and actually screws into the shank. There was a company just up the hill from us (building is still there) that was called the Bone Products Company in the first half of the 1900s. They...

    Early Corncob, Missouri Pipes

The corn cob pipe in the foreground is actually a successor to the Missouri Meerschaum pipes. The Otto family in Washington, MO owned Missouri Meerschaum for about 75 years and sold it in the late 70s. One of the younger Otto's, Steve, started his own company called Missouri Pipes. Rather...

MM Reverse Calabash : A Year Later

Thanks for the kind remarks regarding the Reverse Calabash, aka Cob Wasp. We definitely hear you about bringing it back. We would like to have done another limited edition in 2016, but time is running out. Our corn crop this year looks like it will provide us with a lot of large cobs, so we...

    Loose Shank on a Cob

We use a glue that is equivalent to Elmer's when assembling the pipes.

Can you use a shorter stem on the "Cobbit" dwarf??

Both the Royal and Slim stems will fit the Cobbit Dwarf. If you look on our website for the stems, you will notice that for some reason we refer to stems as "bits" here at Missouri Meerschaum, and we are too old to change!

Does A Cob Require Blend Dedication?

My experience is that cobs do not tend to ghost if you let them rest adequately between uses, as previously mentioned above, and if you run a pipe cleaner through them and swab out the bowl after using. Since I am not as attentive to this cleaning process as I should be, I can usually tell what...
