    GL Pease Blends Sale

For those who like GL Pease's blends, Smoking Pipes is having a sale on his blends. Had to break my own promise not to buy any more for a while...

Dunhill To Stop Selling Pipe Tobacco?

Saw this on a link from a Facebook post. Didn't want to violate any rules by linking to the site. ---------------------- One of the most storied names in the world of cigars and pipes is going away. Tobacco giant British American Tobacco is planning to no longer offer Dunhill cigars and pipe...

    Civil War Soldiers With Pipes

I know there have been a couple of posts with pictures of military personnel smoking pipes. Couldn't find them, so I just thought I'd post this separately. This is a colorized picture of Civil War soldiers taking a break. Six of the nine have pipes. If this has been posted before, MOD feel...

    Cellar Impact Opened Jar

Couldn't find an answer to the question about impact on cellared tobacco opened, then reclosed. I know it stops the aging process, but does the process resume upon reclosing? It would seem logical that it would, with only a short interruption in the process.

    McClelland's Boston 1776

I have tried several Virginias and never been impressed. in fact, I was turned off by the grassy flavors. However, tonight I popped a 2013 tin of McClelland's Boston 1776, and have to admit to a changed opinion. I admit I am no good at writing reviews, but have to also admit this stuff is...

    Star of the East?

I have for some time read all the good reviews of C&D Star of the East, and kept promising myself some. Last weekend, I found a tin in a B&M pipe shop, and brought it home with great expectations. Was really disappointed. Not sure why; I've been smoking English/Balkan blends for nearly 20...

Finished my pipe cabinet a few weeks back. Posted photos on FB, had a friend suggest I should post them here, as well.

    Virginias? Don't See The Attraction....

As some of you know, I have enjoyed The Pipe for over 50m years. During that time, I smoked mostly Burley, and, for the last 20 or so, English/Balkan blends. During the past couple of years, after reading all the high praises for Virginias, I stocked up on some. About a month back, popped a...

    Storient Regret

No, this is not another story of an order with Storient gone bad. Rather it is a lament of an opportunity missed. When Yavuz brought out his PM2012 pipe last year, I had just ordered, and received, his LVC pipe, and was really thinking about ordering the PM pipe, but had to wait a bit for the...

Charring Light and Pipe Filling Methods

I read with some intrigue, and a little confessed mystification, the discussions on a "charring light" and the various pipe loading methods. When I started smoking a pipe, a little over 49 years ago, you got a pipe, some tobacco, matches, and started becoming familiar with the "tools" of the...

    Access to Profile Difficulties

Not sure if it's me (likely) or if others have this problem: I'm signed in all the time (meaning I don't log out when I leave the site). When I return to the site, I''m apparently "recognized" as logged in because I can post in the forums. However, when I click on "Your Profile" in the "Member...

    Old piper's tale?

When I first started smoking pipes (way back amongst the Troglodites), a commonly held theory was that sugar added treatements (read: casings, flavorings, or aromatics) would cause a buildup of undesirable materials in the cake and result in pipes that tasted poorly and/or burnt irregularly...
