    Civic Advice

Hi All, I recently bought an estate pipe over the internet, London-made "CIVIC". It arrived in the mail yesterday and, although it's a nice pipe & I'm sure it will look and smoke great after its been restored, I do have one minor issue with it. Upon trying to remove the stem from the briar it...

    Best Towns For Smoking

Just for a bit of interest, I came across Forbes' list of most smoking-friendly cities in the US. They based their assessment on "few if any anti-smoking ordinances, low tobacco taxes and a relatively high number of fellow smokers". See the list HERE. Did your city make it? :puffy:

Hi All, I've been away from the mag and the forums for a while (maybe a couple of years) and I was just wondering what happned to Uncle Arthur? I recognise a few familiar names like Romeowood & Rigmedic. There are a lot of new facs on here, but the chat is still as good as always. You STILL...

    Which Languages Can You Speak?

I've been thinking, which languages can you speak/read/understand? For me it's Afrikaans, Dutch(Hollands) & Flemmish, to read, write and speak. German to read only (although if spoken slowly enough I can understand enough to get the gist). How about you peoples?

    Sillem's Blue - Not my cup-o-tea

I apologise beforehand, for my lack of real skills as a tobacco reviewer, but I would like to give my impression of Sillem's Blue after only a couple of half-bowls. Firstly, I must say: Never Ever, buy tobacco because your wife thinks the tin looks "cool" - ever! I did this to my dismay, buying...

    NZ Pipe Club?

I was reading the thread about the "Bay area rollcall" and it finally gave me the courage to post what I been thinking about for a while now. As most of you are aware, I live in NZ and here in NZ pipesmoking is not what you'd call commonplace(probably the Nirvanaland of health-and-smoke nazis)...

Rum & Maple not as I recall...

It was with great exitement and antcipation, that I opend my package today. In it was, amongst other things, a pouch of Rum & Maple. I haven't smoked any for some time, so I was eager to get into it. Halfway through the bowl, I stared to wonder if it was as good as I remembered? My late...

    Help with tobacco

Hi all, as some of you may be aware, I live in Nwe Zealand, and I'm a newbie pipe smoker. I have a bit of a problem though, so here goes: Tobacco in NZ is virtuall unobtainable, the very limited variety that is available, is hellishly expensive. I have a brother who lives in Sacramento CA, but...

    How Many Bowls?

I was just wondering, I average about 3-4 bowls a day, and sometimes one or two extra over the weekend. How does this compare with the rest of you fine gents (and ladies)?

    Rest your pipe, or not?

I remember what seems like a lifetime ago, my grandfarther (a life-long piper) telling me "son always rest your pipe after smoking it for a while". I've practiced this belief and it has served me well, resting a pipe for a few days at least after smoking it for a week or so. It has worked well...

Does anyone know of any clubs or like-minded souls here in New Zealand? I am a lonely voice in a country run...
