I am very saddened by this as someone who recently started collecting his pipes. He seemed like a nice, humble man in the Pipe Magazine Radio interview I’ve listened to several times. I thought folks here would want to know...
I often see pipes of interest with one or two spots where the carver decided not to try to correct what I assume is a flaw in the pipe. I don’t think I mind this depending on the overall esthetics of the piece. I’m curious about others tastes in regards to these blemishes. In some ways they...
Here’s my first, due to arrive Monday. First one I found I could (barely) afford! 😂 I just want to see more examples of his work. If you have one or more, please post!
Has anyone had experience with these or own one? Quite rare as he died young. I just bought an 8 inch Canadian of his

For the experts, what would you pay for one of these older castellos unsmoked, I’ve heard the stems feel better, not as thick? (not that I mind the new stems) Any info appreciated!
If 1983 stamp was “Made in England 3”, “Made in England 5” would mean 1995. Correct?
The numbers just went to 25 as I understand. So this shows either a 5 or 6, hoping this is a 1985!
I have commissioned my first pipe with M Parks, largely because of his fine collabs with Les Wood and I just love his Canadians. I’ve commissioned a large Canadian with him inspired by his sandblasted Canadians he did with Les Wood and some of his other beautiful work. I have to wait a year...
Hope it’s ok to creat this thread! I traded in a few pipes that weren’t working out, I’ve wanted one of these for a while to add to my modest British collection. Should be smoking it by Monday! 😁 Curious how others like Ferndowns.
If you suspect mold but it’s not super obvious, would you ask for a new tin and not even try to smoke it? I’m on the fence, it was an old, 25 yrs, expensive tin.
My sea rock smokes amazing. Are the smooths just as amazing? So if we were to compare same size, same shape, only change is finish, I’m assuming some variation because every pipe is different but not because of finish?
Mkelaw-pipes did such an awesome job on this! Mind, he did this for me because I’ve already bought several pipes from him. I’m super happy with the improvement! Highly recommend his estates, I think I’ve got 4 of them now and they are arrived in great shape with affordable prices.

How on earth is a pipe like this considered low grade, high standards I guess. I bid on this particular pipe, not thinking I’d win, but I might. I wonder how they graded these, could it be size in addition to grain?
I’m not at all up on what’s happening and don’t have a lot of success finding relevant info googling. I do remember hearing Per Jensen talk about new European regs coming into play next year. Should I be buying my lifetime supply in 2023? 😂
