    What Was your First Pipe?

Mine was a store pipe from "Tobak," which was a chain trying to compete with Tinder Box where I lived in the early '80s. My first "good" pipe was a Stanwell, which I still Smoke.

    Sometimes Ignorance is Bliss

All that really matters is whether or not you're enjoying what you're smoking right now.

    Silly Jokes

A monk, a rabbi and a priest walk into a bar. The bartender says,"What is this, some kind of joke?"

    Bulk Versus Tins Versus Pouches

Once I find something I really like I tend to buy the big tins (200g) if they are available. On a side note I had the experience of falling in love with a C&D blend called Epiphany, which I was buying in 200g tins. I decided to buy a couple lbs. of bulk to cellar, and was disappointed. I...

I've been away a while - help me catch up!

C&D has upped its game quite a bit and isn't the laughing stock it was 6 or so years ago. I've been a C&D customer since they were in Pennsylvania, and you called Craig Tarler on the phone to place your order, and I also enjoy the GLP blends made there. I wasn't ever aware of them being a...

I've been away a while - help me catch up!

I liked University Flake too. I didn't even know it was gone. I've been out of the loop myself.

    Brigham Pipes

I'm no help to you, but I'm a little disappointed to hear this. I've always liked the look and design of some of their pipes, and have toyed with the idea of getting one (even though I don't ordinarily do filter pipes). I hope you get some more useful responses!

    Pipe Liquid. Useful or Gimmick?

I always heard it was a bad idea to introduce water into the shank, because it could swell the briar and make the tenon not fit properly, while alcohol evaporates before it can do any damage. Made sense to me, but am I wrong?

    Show Off Your Petersons Here!

Somebody like me, who loves Petersons and the p-lip will tell you yes. Somebody who hates Petersons and the p-lip (as many do) will tell you no. There's only one way for you to find out! :-)

    Nicotine surprise

I always thought it was a "Burley thing." The only tobacco that ever kicked my butt this way was Five Brothers.

What Time of Day do you Enjoy your Pipe the Most?

My favorites are the first one in the morning, and late afternoon. Don't know why.

I taught acting and voice for the stage. Leather patches....yes, I do have a jacket with patches! :-) Smoking in class, no, although I could smoke in my office the first couple years I was there. I'm old enough to remember smoking in class in undergrad school in the '70s.

Here’s just about everything there is to know about me. I started pipe smoking in 1983. I have about 60 pipes. It’s not a collection though, just an accumulation. I have some nice pipes (James Upshall, Charatan, Castello, Ascorti) and some beaters (EA Carey!), but Peterson and Stanwell are the...

    Albino Squirrel

When I lived in Western PA we had more black squirrels than brown or grey.
