    Love for older Comoy's pipes

Here's my only 'Cecil' - my grandfather's birthyear (1910), and also his first name:

Interesting Completed Ebay Auctions - British Pipes

I think I learn one major fact each day in pipe forums. Unfortunately I forget at least one thing per day. Doing the math scares me.

    GORGEOUS!!!

Interesting Completed Ebay Auctions - British Pipes

Made in England' Kaywoodie 55 Standard. I did not know that Kaywoodie pipes were ever made in England.

Interesting Completed Ebay Auctions - British Pipes

After receiving this one I asked Todd why he made all his pipes so shiny, and he replied that he liked shiny pipes. Fair enough. I used to show my restored pipes on another forum and I had a wealthy collector of high-end pipes (he liked to tell us how much he paid for them) flat-out tell me...

    Love for older Comoy's pipes

Here are two 1919's (acquired separately) that I kind of wish I had kept. They each were part of bundles that included old Petersons. One is a twin-bore (I don't remember which).

Interesting Completed Ebay Auctions - British Pipes

We need a 'Show Your Deadman Pipes' thread - I'd love to see the pipes you all are winning in his auctions. I won this one from him four years ago. It was a very pleasant transaction - I asked him about a few things he had done to the pipe, he explained, and I made some changes based on that...

Another Royal Deluxe - London Made

No, it's the correct stem. The stummel/stem combination is exactly like the one in the link I posted - brass dot.

    Briar Stems Anyone?

I have this Briarcliff - only briar stem I've handled. It's a beautiful pipe but the metal ring is stuck to the stem (should be the shank, per a member here).

Do You have a Pipe You can’t Bring Yourself to Smoke?

A couple more unsmoked Petersons that I'll never smoke. Case on top pipe is not original, but is period-correct and a perfect fit.

Do You have a Pipe You can’t Bring Yourself to Smoke?

This pipe is the reason I no longer buy unsmoked pipes unless I plan on smoking them - 1950's unsmoked 'Straight Grain' 80S. At some point I will have an 'unsmoked Peterson' sale and get rid of a few like this one:

Huge College "Class Pipe" Collection including Dunhills (Villanova Syracuse, Lehigh, etc.)

Since this thread is still open :) ... I remember well when this collection appeared on ebay. I wasn't a collector of such things, so I didn't bid; however, I recently picked up a Yale 'Class of 1894' 'Claw and Egg' pipe that was made for Lew Stoddard's shop, so I googled for more info and...

Should I Pull the Plug on this Andreas Bauer?

Proper AB stummel fit and chamber thickness:

Should I Pull the Plug on this Andreas Bauer?

Ridiculous. Regarding that metal two-piece connector - it doesn't look right, it doesn't look good, and it doesn't look like a design that a renowned pipe-maker would do intentionally. I also don't like the way the stummel fits in the case - too much room at the back and the angle of the back...

Heckuva deal. I have Bewlay pipes made by Comoy's and by Barling. Another strange one I had, really looked like a Kaywoodie but there is no documented history of Kaywoodie making pipes for them.

Another Royal Deluxe - London Made

Yeah, I'm thinking this one will remain a mystery. But whoever made it made at least two shapes

Interesting Completed Ebay Auctions - British Pipes

Wasn't sure what to make of this auction - I thought the MM might be a Comoy's, but unsure. It has 'Made' over 'England' with 'In' in the middle, football shape, gold band, raised blue bar. All pipes are tiny - MM is 4 5/8". LHS Educator also has a gold band. GBD New Era also seems very old...

    Peterson Saddle Stems

Here are a few Petersons with 'Hand Cut'-stamped saddle stems. The bottom one is also a twin bore, which is uncommon for Petersons - Iwan Ries exclusive model.

Another Royal Deluxe - London Made

Other than the one discussed in the thread below (OP - @Humblepipe ), I was unable to find anything on the internet about this pipe. Pulled this one out of my junk box for a restore because the stem was 1920-30's-ish. A couple of pits, but fine grain. (That's a large brass dot on the stem)...

Interesting Completed Ebay Auctions - British Pipes

Yeah, two guys want something and this happens. Thursday I was bidding in an online Australia auction for meerschaum pipes, and a carving that normally goes for $300 or less on ebay, went for over $2,000. Neither bidder was willing to 'lose'. But the winner definitely lost.
