Where would I go to explore this?

    Question About 6mm Filtered Pipes

I’ve had the same experience with both the balsa and the charcoal filters... but I’m now thinking it has to do with the draw pressure? Does the pace of smoking change depending on the size of the filter? I didn’t think I drew any harder but now I’m wondering.

    Question About 6mm Filtered Pipes

I generally prefer smoking a pipe with a 9mm filter. Recently I acquired 2 Savinelli’s that are both 6mm filters. They are both new pipes and generally each is a representation of one of the 9mm pipes I smoke. I’m finding that both the 6mm pipes are harsh to smoke compared to the 9mm. They come...

That Last Little Bit In The Bowl

All this advice has been perfect. In the last several weeks, I've avoided what's at the bottom and on many occasions, I was able to find a pace and a packing that actually burned the bowl completely to ashes. It's not necessarily my goal, but I'm finding it happens when I don't think too hard...

Pipe Filters on a Savinelli Roma

I exclusively smoke filtered pipes for a number of reasons that are shared in many places in the forum. I won’t smoke a non-filtered pipe any more. All my pipes are 9mm filters with the exception of the Sav Roma 673 KS 6mm that I recently bought. I’ve only put 4-5 bowls through it and I’ve...

That Last Little Bit In The Bowl

I’ve now figured out which blends burn to ask (Va/Per, English and Orientals for me it seems) and which don’t (Aromatics, etc). Regardless, your advice was spot on useful

That Last Little Bit In The Bowl

Hello, Friends! I have basked in the advice of so many of you and all has gone well. I've tried some tobaccos and loved them, and put others in the closet for some time down the road. While I have enjoyed the aromatics/English aromatics quite a bit... it's the Va/Per's and Orientals that I...

Question: Air Humidity & A Lit Pipe

Hello! I continue to be grateful for this forum and the advice I've been given as I've returned to pipes as a newbie. Since I last came to the oracle, a couple of things have happened. First, I acquired a couple of newer pipes into the collection. Second, I've been testing various tobaccos and...

    Question About Flavor

This is brilliant and very helpful. Thank you! I'll do just as you suggest (just bought a Savinelli pipe with those dimensions, as it turns out!) and I appreciate the affirmation that this is an art that takes time. I appreciate even more my grandfather's commitment... he smoked a bowl every day...

    Question About Flavor

This has all been super helpful (thank you!) and per the advice above, I called Smokingpipes.com and Chris was knowledgeable and great to deal with. He emailed me a list of his recommendations and I just placed an order (bulk, 1 oz qty, very cost effective). Stay tuned! (I don't know what the...

    Question About Flavor

Good call. I typically put the tobacco out on a leather pad and let it air dry (?) for 10 - 15 min before I pack and light it. I have not tried the nose route but that makes perfect sense. I am now trying to figure out the right moisture content as I know it varies from tobacco to tobacco and...
