    Show Off Your Barlings Here

It’s at an antique store so I imagine they have it priced so high because it’s old, you know what antique stores are like, hah. They have it advertised as late 1800’s. I will ask about it though.

    Show Off Your Barlings Here

Cheers, I found the photos online but it’s at a shop just down the road from me. I’ll try and pop down there during the week for a closer look and get some more photos. I don’t think I’ll buy it, like I said, not really my cup of tea. They want about US$270 for it. Definitely an unusual and...

My apologies, I thought it could be an interesting discussion as I have not seen or heard of anything like it before. You can delete the post if you like.

    Show Off Your Barlings Here

Maybe not the right thread, it’s not mine but at a shop near me, but has anyone seen anything like this before? Apparently late 1800’s Barling made from a crab claw? Thoughts? Edit: looks like maybe 1910 from the hallmarks. Not really my cup of tea but quite unusual I thought.

    Show Off Your Petersons Here!

Thanks mate. I took your suggestion and contacted Mark to see if he could tell me anymore about the pipe. He seemed quite impressed. After contacting the store where I acquired it from to see if they could add any info, Mark has said he will create a post about the pipe on his blog. Nothing...

    Show Off Your Petersons Here!

Pipe arrived today. It is incredible! I almost don’t want to smoke it, almost. I still can’t believe the condition it’s in, a couple of tiny dings on the band but that’s it. Bone tenon extension still even unscrews. If it didn’t smell like it had been smoked it would think it hasn’t been. Came...

He’s pretty solid isn’t he, should sit in the hand nicely I think. The bowl is 21mm across by 37mm deep, or 0.82” by 1.44” for those of you across the pond.

Looks interesting doesn’t it. I will post a close up once it arrives, should be early next week. From what I could see in the photos and video on the website it has Peterson Deluxe stamped on the shank, no COM, and the A stamp for 1916 on the band. I did see this similar shaped pipe from 1916 on...

It wasn’t cheap but I couldn’t pass up this 1916 deluxe I found on an Italian website. Amazing condition for a pipe that’s over 100 years old!

    Old Boy Troubleshooting

I had a similar problem (kind of) with a Sillems old boy I have. I received it brand new and after filling with gas, I adjusted the screw to the minimum flame size (screwed in until I met resistance) but the flame was enormous and would empty a full tank in a matter of minutes. I assumed it...

    Your Favorite Bulldog?

Hard to choose just one, but I’d have to say this Castello 56. Smokes like a dream.

Looking For A Really Good Pipe Lighter

I have a xikar resource. It’s a good lighter. I’m happy with it, nothing wrong with it all. But I would describe my IM Coronas as really good. They’re a step above the xikar in quality and aesthetics I feel. In price too mind you.

Looking For A Really Good Pipe Lighter

Thanks mate, I’ll keep that in mind. I’m pretty careful with them. I don’t usually take them out of the house, I have a xikar resource for that.

Looking For A Really Good Pipe Lighter

You can’t go wrong with an IM Corona. Even less so with the Sillem’s version in my opinion.

    Show Off Your Bulldogs/Rhodesians

Some beautiful pipes in this thread. I’m quite a fan of the rhodesian/bulldog shape myself.

    "Stick Tobacco", Australia Duty

No need for an apology mate. Was just trying to clear things up for you. Have a good one.

    "Stick Tobacco", Australia Duty

I think you may have misunderstood something there mate. Cigars, chewing tobacco and snuff are charged at $1576.57 plus gst but you don’t need a permit (up to 1.5kg). Pipe tobacco, cigarettes, ryo require you to have an import permit and you can’t import them through the mail...

    Peterson 9s

That shop had another natural house pipe for sale that I bought. The pipe was the exact one in the picture so I think it would be the same for this one. Also, they will deduct the VAT if you live outside of Europe.

    Storing Opened Tins

Thanks for the advice guys. I think I might have to get some jars. I might even do an experiment and do half jars and half in the tupperware. The tupperware container is quite similar to the case in the link you posted mingc, it has the clips and the rubber seal. Also, vegemite does come in jars...
